The Gallatin Civic Center is now hiring for more lifeguards.
Many describe it as a fun and flexible job, perfect for high school & college students and those looking for ways to spend their free time during the day.
The starting hourly rate starts at $12. Applicants must be at least 15 years old.
Applicants should have the ability to follow written and oral directions and maintain effective working relationships with others. Applicant must be able to successfully pass a drug screen. Applicants who are 18 years old or older must also pass a background check. Night and weekend work are required.
Those wanting to be lifeguards must also be Lifeguard\CPR\AED\First Aid certified and be able to perform those skills. The Gallatin Civic Center is partnered with the American Red Cross to offer training during the Spring.
All participants must be at least 15 years of age and able to complete a pre-course swimming test including a 300 yard swim of front crawl and breaststroke, a timed test of swimming to the deep end to pick up a brick off the bottom of the pool, and treading water for two minutes without the use of your hands.
On the Friday before each class at 6 p.m. there will be a mandatory swim test that you must pass before finishing the rest of class. If you do not pass this portion, you cannot complete the rest of class for that session. There is a $10 non-refundable fee with any refunds.
Certification is awarded only with successful completion of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, as well as a final skill and written test. The cost is $225 for the week, or you can take the CPR/AED portion for $75.
Fill out a Lifeguard Certification Form and return it to the Gallatin Civic Center.
Spring 2023:
- February 13 — 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. & February 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- March 20 — 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. & March 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- April 17 — 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. & April 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- May 22 — 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. & May 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
