Commercial Projects

All plans submitted for issuance of a building permit must be accurate, legible, include dimensions, be drawn to a standard scale, and meet minimum industry-wide acceptable architectural and engineering standards. The City reserves the right to require additional information for plan review analysis.

Plan Submittal Guidelines for Commercial/Industrial


All plans shall be designed in accordance with the current adopted codes of the City of Gallatin. Please see our Adopted Codes and Amendments page for our locally adopted codes and design criteria.

Required Plan Information


Information required on plans includes:
    -Cover Page with Design Criteria
    -Dimensioned Site Plan
    -Footing & Foundation Details
    -Wall Sectionals
    -UL Listed Assemblies
    -UL Penetration Details
    -Floor Plans
    -Room Uses Labels
    -Electrical Layouts, Service, & Notes
    -Mechanical Layouts, Sizing Info to include Fire & Smoke Requirements
    -Plumbing Schematic
    -Life Safety Plans with Travel Distances
    -Sprinkler Plans
    -Engineered Roof and/or Floor Truss Layouts
    -Door & Window Schedules
    -Any Height or Area Increase Calculations

Contractor's Documentation Requirements


All contractors applying for permits must supply or have the following documentation on file with the Gallatin Building Department:
  • General Liability
  • Workers' Compensation (or state exemption)
  •  State License
  • City Permit Bond
