Mobile Food Vendors

Mobile Food Vendors to include but are not limited to Mobile Food Service Vehicles, Mobile Food Trailers, Food Trucks, Ice Cream Trucks, and Portable units/trailers including those that serve as a mobile kitchen or any Mobile/portable operation which provides edible food products, must obtain and maintain an annual City of Gallatin Mobile Food Vendor Permit every year, in order to operate in the City Limits of Gallatin. 

In 2022, the Gallatin City Council amended the city’s code of ordinances to include specific rules for mobile food vendors, including hours of operation, operating requirements, permitting and enforcement.  Gallatin City Amended Ordinance O21Ø7-45 establishes a $130 permit allowing food truck sales across the city for an entire year. The fee will be used to cover the costs of safety inspections of food trucks.

A gathering of four or more food trucks is considered a “food truck rally” and would require an additional permit and fees. Each food truck vendor is also required to have the full-year permit. Additional information can be found on our Food Truck Rally Page. 

Operating without a permit may result in a $500 permit fee for subsequent applications.

Mobile Food Vendor Permits and Food Truck Rally Permits can be applied for online through our Citizens Self Service Portal.  Please be sure to visit the Applications, Forms and Safety Information page for required documents before submitting.  

Applying for permits online is the most effective and efficient way to submit permits.  Please know 

by using a Citizen Self Service (CSS) account on your mobile device, tablet, or laptop you can apply 

for permits online as well as access your permits, pay invoices, and view/request inspections.
